An organization wanting to apply for a PBLO franchise should follow the following steps.
Prepare and submit a "Business Plan" detailing the recent history of the organization and demonstrating the following:
You are prepared to operate competitive 15U, 16U and 18u teams and have a grass roots source for these players.
You have appropriately trained coaches and managers for this level
You have access to diamonds suitable for AAAA Midget baseball
You have access to an indoor facility (You do not have to own the facility itself.) for off season
training
Your organization has successfully operated competitive teams in recent years. (in the OBA or
other known leagues)
Your organization is sustainable for future years (not put together to "serve a few sons" moving
through the midget age group)
The area of the province your franchise would propose to serve
Your franchise would not duplicate or encroach on an area currently served by an existing
PBLO franchise
You understand the PBLO agreement with the OBA to maintain arm’s length relationships with
14U and younger teams.
You understand new franchises are asked to post a $1000 performance bond refundable after
a two-year probationary period along with a franchise fee covering members equity.
Your organization should prepare and submit this plan to me ([email protected]) or PBLO Secretary Treasurer Rick Downton ([email protected]). The PBLO executive will review received submissions and those DEEMED REASONABLY QUALIFIED FOR CONSIDERATION will be forwarded to the PBLO full board for review.
I trust this information is helpful to you and responds fully to your inquiry.
