Message from the OBA:
The Rep Operational Committee has identified some inconsistencies and vague language in the new High Performance rules. In an effort to create clarity and consistency, the following decision is in place for try-outs beginning this summer. We will address this for subsequent years with proposed rule changes in November.
Notwithstanding the current High Performance rules for the 2025 baseball season, and in order to create an equitable recruiting environment that promotes the development of athletes while protecting the integrity of teams during the current baseball season, the OBA Rep Operational Committee has adopted the following timelines for the 2025 baseball season:
- The recruiting and try-out period for all High Performance programs (AAAA) may start as early as Monday July 1, 2024.
- Try-outs must be completed no later than Sunday September 8, 2024.
Recruiting is defined as any solicitation of prospective athletes or their parents by a program staff member or representative of the program for the purposes of securing a prospective athlete's position at a try-out or on a program. This does not include public announcement of try-out dates on social media or other mediums of advertisement.
